High Power – Modified Power Supply

Preparation

This power supply’s fan was soldered directly to the board so the wire had to be snipped off for later re-splicing. Ample room in the enclosure for our additional wiring.

First step is to prune unneeded wires. Pretty much all 3.3V and most 5V wires can be removed outright. I kept one 3.3V wire to use a power on indicator.

The wires organized. Notice the two yellow 12V wires, one solid yellow, the other stripped yellow. Presumably one for each 18A rail. What I found really curious is that internally, these two rails are actually a single rail. They’re electrically connected. Not sure what happened there.

All the unnecessary wires trimmed out. Only a couple of wires from each rail and whole bunch of ground wires.
